Awramba Times (Addis Ababa) – Ethiopians living in South Sudan are urgently appealing to the government of Ethiopia to begin the process of repatriation. Ethiopian Embassy in Juba has started registering Ethiopians as the violence escalated between different ethnic and political groups in South Sudan.
Dina Mufti, spokesperson of Ethiopian Foreign Ministry told Awramba Times that his government is working to evacuate its citizens from spiraling conflict in the world’s newest nation.
A mediation team consisting of Ministers from Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Djibouti and Sudan travelled to Juba, for talks with both sides to end the week-long deadly strife in the country.
United States, British, German, Uganda and Dutch planes were also scheduled to fly out. Hundreds of foreigners, including aid workers, have left South Sudan this week.
